Words of the Week

Do you know  what a fly swatter is?  A clampdown?
No, neither did our students until they came to class last week.
During a typical session in the Prepare for English academy we find learning opportunities in every detail, routine or game.  Our words of the week board is a reflection of what is happening in class with a range of different students.
Birds of prey are aves de preso (the primary school groups are all named after birds of prey - you can find out more about the inspiration for this in the post about The Falcons.
a fly swatter is a matamoscas
 a clampdown is restricciones or medidas drasticas. 
We use the phrasal verb 
clamp down on to mean 
​restringuir drasticamente.
